This is the first English translation of one of the most popular manuals of Islam ever written. It is divided into 77 chapters, each dealing with a major aspect of Islam, giving the relevant Quranic verses and authentic Hadiths for each. The book will thus be an essential tool for all English-speaking Muslims.
The author, Imam al-Bayhaqi (d.1066), was a prominent Sunni scholar of Central Asia, who is famous for having written almost a thousand books. The present work is based on his influential text Shu'ab al-Iman, as abridged by al-Qazwini (d.1300)
The translator, Abdal-Hikim Murad, is an English Muslim who has studied at a-Azhar University in Cairo in the present translation, which was made in consultation with Egyptian experts, he adds notes which bring out the contemporary relevance of the text.
The Quilliam Press is an Islamic publishing house founded to mark the centenary of the first English Muslim community, established in 1889 by Abdallah Quilliam, a Liverpool sohar.
