The fiqh is a product of later generations. The Companions of the Prophet did not need its emulation into a new branch of knowledge because the law giver (the Messenger of Allah-Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) was still among them, their linguistic abilities were unsurpassed and those who narrated hadith were alive.
