What is Shariah?

The purpose of this book is to provide an answer to the conflict and confusion within Muslims in respect of distinguishing between Shariah and “Fiqh” and also to state that proper sense of when that difficult word is used. In this book, Shariah means the Canonical law of Islam as revealed in the Qur’an and the practice of the Holy Prophet or the Sunnah. It is only the Shariah (Qur’an and Sunnah) as defined above that initiates the very essence of law in Islam and demarcates its legal bearing.
